Background Statement
In 1976, seven mothers and one father living in West Denver founded what would become Mi Casa Resource Center®. They sought a safe and supportive environment for women who wanted more for themselves and their families.
At the beginning, Mi Casa offered job-training programs for women to help them break into higher paying jobs traditionally filled by men. We expanded in the mid-1980s to include small business services, offered in English and Spanish, to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit of low-income, female, and BIPOC (Black, indigenous, and people of color) business owners.
Today, our Career and Business Pathways programs focus on building generational wealth in the Latino community by helping job seekers, small business owners, and students in every step along their path to economic success.
In 2023, Mi Casa provided resources for 2K+ individuals and supported families as they cultivate new career skills. We helped 58 entrepreneurs reach their dream of launching their businesses. This essential effort continues to transform the lives of generations of hardworking families statewide. We serve as agents of change, advocating for policies that build a more inclusive economy for all Coloradans.
