Mesa County Search and Rescue

A nonprofit organization

Mesa County Search and Rescue (MCSAR) is a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up entirely of trained, professional volunteers. Our team of more than 40 selfless individuals donates thousands of hours every year to serve the residents and visitors of Mesa County in all weather, in rough terrain, and under the jurisdiction of the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office.

MCSAR is an accredited member of the Mountain Rescue Association (MRA), a national organization that sets rigorous standards for search and rescue teams operating in mountainous and remote environments. MRA accreditation reflects our team’s commitment to professionalism, safety, and effective response in challenging terrain and extreme conditions.

Our mission profiles vary widely, from standard ground searches for lost or missing persons to complex technical rope rescues.

MCSAR is entirely funded through donations and grants. We receive no pay for our life-saving work, so support from our community is vital.
