The McMeen Elementary Parent Teacher Organization exists for the purpose of supporting the education of children at McMeen Elementary by fostering relationships among the students, families, staff, and community.
Mission
- To promote the education and well-being of all children at home, in school, and in the community.
- To provide a forum for discussion and foster communication between families, staff, and the community.
- To promote volunteer opportunities and resources for McMeen Elementary.
- To sponsor projects and events for the benefit of McMeen Elementary students.
- To supplement current or new school programming.
- To raise funds to provide for all the above objectives.
Background Statement
Our Title 1 School in Denver has been struggling with new-to-country kids/families having to adapt to a new country, new culture, and very significantly for these kids to learning in a school setting.
Many of these kids are first time learners having to adapt to dual language instruction with little or no English prior. We are trying to best care for the educational needs of all whom attend this DPS elementary school by providing funding for teacher resources and community building opportunities.
