Since 1974, Marble Retreat has provided a safe place for transformation and life-giving hope to over 5,000 Christian Leaders from around the world. As an interdenominational Christian Counseling Center, Marble Retreat provides a doorway to healing for those who are tired and hurting.
Over these 50 years, our mission to bring healing, hope, and restoration to those in Christian ministry through Christ-centered brief intensive counseling has remained the same. We have also maintained a commitment to not let finances stand in the way of a ministry leader receiving the help they need.

Marble Retreat was born out of the conviction that clergy and others in Christian service have extreme job demands which can frequently result in symptoms of depression, anxiety, frustration, discouragement and burnout. Worse still and because of their position, they find it difficult to seek help. These factors, and God’s call, led Mayo Clinic-trained psychiatrist Louis McBurney, M.D. and his wife, Melissa, to begin the ministry of Marble Retreat in 1974, over 50 years ago. Marble Retreat has now served the Christian counseling needs of more than 5,000 Christian leaders who have come from every state and more than 60 countries.
