Background Statement
Maji Safi Group (MSG), ‘Clean Water Group’ in English, was founded in 2012 to promote health and disease prevention in rural, underserved communities in Tanzania.
MSG US became a nonprofit corporation in Colorado in January 2013 and received 501(c)(3) US nonprofit status in January 2014. MSG TZ is registered as an International non-governmental organization (INGO) in the United Republic of Tanzania. MSG US raises funds and provides administrative support for our on-the-ground team in Tanzania. In collaboration with community stakeholders and government authorities, our 100% Tanzanian staff plans, implements, and evaluates the outcomes of all initiatives.
Four Focus Areas:
For several years, MSG primarily focused on WASH education. In 2021, we added installation of WASH infrastructure in select locations. To reach our current community impact goals MSG operates in five districts across three regions in the Lake Zone in northeastern Tanzania.
MSG implements projects in four focus areas:
(1) Menstrual Hygiene Health (MHH) and School WASH Infrastructure
(2) WASH in Health Care Facilities (HCFs)
(3) Information Communication Technology and Learning Tools
(4) Climate resilient WASH
