Magpie Art Center was created with one simple belief: everyone deserves access to creativity.
In Sedalia, that wasn’t possible. Our rural community lacked after-school art classes, creative programs for low-income families, affordable workshops for seniors, and few opportunities for people to build connections, confidence, and emotional well-being through creative expression. People who needed support the most had nowhere to go.
So we built that place
The Magpie Art Center is a welcoming and inclusive space where people of all ages and backgrounds can learn, experiment, express themselves, and feel supported. We offer classes in ceramics, weaving, botanical printing, painting, mixed media, gardening, and more. We partner with nonprofits to bring therapeutic and expressive arts experiences to those who need them. We are creating after-school programs for kids who have never been able to afford art lessons. We design classes for seniors to explore creativity, memory, and connection. And we work to ensure that cost is never a barrier to participation.
Our mission goes beyond teaching techniques. We use art to build emotional resilience, confidence, curiosity, and community.

Magpie Art Center was born from a vision to create something greater than an art school—a welcoming place where creativity brings people together, friendships flourish, and individuals discover new possibilities within themselves.
Located in the heart of Sedalia, Colorado, Magpie is housed in a lovingly renovated historic property. What was once a residential space has been transformed into a community art center featuring a gallery, creative classrooms, and inviting gathering spaces. Through thoughtful renovations and a commitment to accessibility, this historic property is becoming a vibrant home for artistic exploration and community connection.
A Vision for Creativity and Community

I believe creativity has a remarkable way of bringing people together. When we create alongside one another, barriers begin to fall away, conversations unfold, friendships blossom, and we discover our shared desire to connect, contribute, and belong.
My vision is to nurture a community of open-minded, caring individuals who encourage one another, embrace curiosity, and inspire positive change. A place where people feel valued, where healing and personal growth have room to flourish, and where everyone has permission to explore their unique way of being and becoming.
But my hope extends beyond Magpie’s walls. When people discover their potential, develop confidence, and experience genuine connection, they carry those gifts into their families, friendships, and communities.

Growing a Sustainable Future
Today, Magpie offers opportunities for creative learning, artistic expression, exhibitions, wellness, and community gatherings for individuals of all ages and abilities.
As we grow, we’re building a sustainable future through classes, workshops, special events, earned revenue, and community partnerships. Our goal is to develop a thriving art center where ongoing programs help sustain operations while charitable contributions expand access through scholarships, outreach, and inclusive creative experiences.
