Mentoring is good but quality mentoring is better! MENTOR Colorado exists to strengthen the quality of mentoring throughout Colorado by providing capacity building support to mentoring and youth serving programs. Quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on youth in a variety of personal, academic, & professional situations. Ultimately, mentoring connects a young person to personal growth and development, and social and economic opportunity. Yet 1 in 3 will grow up without a mentor.
Since our NQMS work [with MENTOR Colorado] initiated 18 months ago, we've learned significantly and strengthened the direction of the organization. I realize that we had all of the ingredients needed, and it feels like we've put them together into a powerful cookbook now. The biggest component that came out of our work together was the importance of us owning this work internally and not looking to outside individuals to lead it. We know our programs, we know our participants, and we know our opportunities.

MENTOR Colorado is the unifying champion for expanding quality youth mentoring relationships in Colorado. Founded by the passion and vision of a number of grassroots mentoring organizations in Colorado, MENTOR Colorado leads initiatives that will strengthen communities through mentoring. MENTOR Colorado has served the mentoring field by providing a public voice; developing and delivering resources to mentoring programs nationwide; and promoting quality for mentoring through evidence-based standards, innovative research and essential tools. Together, we engage with the private, public and nonprofit sectors to ensure that all youth have the support they need through mentoring relationships to succeed at home, school and, ultimately, work.
