Mission:  Here to inspire, teach, support and help provide the right resources to create a self sufficient culinary community.

We have built a nonprofit culinary arts training program for low income community members, including families and children.

Our goal is to provide accessible and affordable training to those who are interested in pursuing a career in the culinary arts, but lack the resources to do so. Our program will offer hands-on training in a variety of cooking techniques and preparation methods, taught by experienced chefs and instructors.

Participants will also learn about business management, food safety, and customer service, equipping them with the skills necessary to succeed in the industry. We believe that this program will not only improve the lives of those who participate, but also contribute to the local economy by providing a skilled workforce for entrepreneurship, restaurants and food service establishments.

Additionally, the program will help to address the issue of food insecurity in our community by providing job opportunities and training in sustainable food systems.

Your support is key to helping the community.  Would you be willing to join us by donating?

Background Statement

= You can make a difference to so many people by donating today to Little Bird Creative Community! =

In 2022, my husband and I closed our small fun artsy cafe in our small community and reimagined this same space into a shared-used commercial kitchen. We had been approached many many times over the 5 years we were a cafe by folks wanting to use our kitchen after hours to start their own business...so, we decided to throw everything we had into this new endeavor.

After much planning, lots of hard work, draining the bank accounts and many sleepless nights over several months, we finally opened our dream kitchen at the beginning of the new year...now it was time to share our space! We are a small business wanting to help other small foodie businesses in our neighborhood. Feeling excited is putting it lightly!

At the beginning phases of planning and permitting, we decided to bring a couple of big boxes filled with breads, granolas, muffins, cinnamon rolls, frozen fruits and vegetables from our cafe over to the local food pantry. It was all delicious food and we didn't want to toss it, as construction was starting soon. When we arrived at about 10:30am on a stormy Wednesday in October, I couldn't believe what I saw....

There were dozens of people, families and kids - standing in line to get into the food pantry to take some food. Everyone look so defeated.

When I got in to the pantry with our boxes of food, I asked to speak to the person in charge and asked them if this was a usual thing...having so many people in our small community needing the essentials. She said, "yes...this is very typical." I found out that most of my fellow community members are still suffering the backlash of the Covid pandemic, years later. Some of my neighbors are living in their cars, as housing costs and food prices in our renowned ski resort county is at a record breaking high. I knew that our food pantries in our area were always in need of food and volunteers, but I seriously had no idea how alarming it was.

We HAD to do SOMETHING...we are asking that you help us in the only way we know how. To create delicious chef created pre-packaged meals to give back to these food pantries. I'm talking full dinners with chicken, potatoes, veggie side and dinner rolls...big servings of pasta and fresh veggies and fresh bread with a big chocolate brownie for dessert. Healthy breakfasts with sausage or bacon, eggs, toast or waffles and a fruit bowl!

Working with a local food pantry, The Community Market, who in 2022 has rescued 545,000 pounds of food from local food donors, and nourished 2,796 community members every week. This is fresh, wholesome food that is now filling stomachs, instead of landfills.

It is our goal to produce 72,000 chef-prepared meals in our commercial kitchen space to give to over 12,000 families in need this year. (6000 meals a month)
