Light of the Rockies Christian Counseling Center

A nonprofit organization

Light of the Rockies has a team of a dozen counselors helping children, teens, parents, couples and families become healthy. We are specifically helping educate our community about mental health first-aid to help people see signs when someone is suicidal, so that we can prevent deaths by suicide.

Testimonials

One scholarship recipient wrote to his counselor, "Erin, thank you so much for making the sessions we had a possibility through donor funding during my unemployment. I could not have done it otherwise and I believe the breakthrough I experienced was substantial and timely. The funding allowed me to not have to carry the weight alone. Blessings!" - M.

A Mom of a teenager wrote this about her son's experience with Kelley: "My son has an outlet to express his feelings and a safe environment to express what makes his life difficult. I see the difference each week when he has a session with Kelley. He has been given some emotional tools in his life. Thank you for your support."

Another client wrote this: "The scholarship fund has been helpful for me as I work through feelings of apathy, depression, anxiety, grief, and overall self-worth. Being vulnerable with my counselor has been a huge step in my healing process, and including faith in our conversations has been a vital part of me experiencing hope."

Mission

We provide affordable professional counseling from a Christian perspective, so that we can help to bring healing to people's lives -- emotionally, relationally and spiritually. We want to help heal people's brokenness so that they can function, and be able to bless others in their family, work and community.

Background Statement

Light of the Rockies Christian Counseling Center was founded by Joyce Williams, Licensed Professional Counselor in 1994. We've been around for almost 25 years! The counseling center was housed in a church that was going unused during the week. In 2002, more counselors joined the practice, and we did counseling in offices at 134 W. Harvard Street, in Fort Collins. After 5 years there, we moved to a office in a house, on Prospect Road. We were there for 10 years. Our landlord regularly prayed for the people that entered and exited our counseling offices. Though we loved being there, we outgrew the location. In March of 2018, we moved to our new building in SE Fort Collins, near Harmony & I-25, on Strauss Cabin Road, which is another church location. We have plenty of parking and more offices, and our clients love our new convenient location!

Through the years we've grown and we now have 12 counselors, 2 interns, 2 office staff, and we're operating out of 2 locations (Fort Collins and Johnstown). We're grateful to God for the grown that we've seen.

Our team now has the capability to see people with most any struggle -- whether it's emotional work, relationship problems, spiritual struggles, a mental health crisis, an addiction issue, marriage counseling, or child or teen therapy, our team is able to help. We are grateful to assist those who are young and old alike, and those who have the financial means to pay for counseling or those who need the assistance of our scholarship fund. Our team prays for our clients and often prays with our clients. At the same time, we are happy to see those who wouldn't profess faith, as we simply see our role as one to come alongside and assist the person or family into a place of healing. We are grateful for the honor to do this work of counseling with about 160 people/families per week.
