Nutritious school lunch provided by Light Up Hope has increased school attendance!
In Kenya, many families find themselves trapped in a relentless cycle of poverty, where daily struggles overshadow dreams of a brighter future. Children often go to school hungry, and the weight of financial insecurity stifles their potential. Access to education feels like a distant hope when your family cannot afford basics like food and clothing. Every child deserves the chance to learn, grow, and break free from these constraints. Your generous Donation has a powerful impact by providing nutritious meals for children, funding educational sponsorships for high school and university, and supporting vital mental health initiatives. It empowers young women through mentorship and life skills training, ensures access to essential learning materials, and strengthens community development. Your support helps break barriers and transform lives. Every contribution is a vital step toward creating lasting change!
Monthly Giving Sustains This Work
What can your Monthly Gift do?
$25 a month - You can provide nutritious school lunches for twelve children each day for the year. This means your donation ensures that students receive meals that help them focus on learning rather than hunger.
$50 a month - You can fund a scholarship for a child to attend high school for the entire year, opening doors to education and opportunity. This support empowers young students to pursue their dreams and escape the cycle of poverty.
$75 a month - You can provide for mentorship for six WOVEN students for an entire year. This support empowers young women to gain invaluable guidance, skills, and confidence as they pursue their educational and professional dreams. By investing in their potential, you’re helping to shape future leaders who will inspire change and uplift their communities.
$100 a month - You can nearly cover the University tuition for a talented young woman from an impoverished background for an entire year. This vital support allows her to pursue higher education and unlock her potential, providing a pathway to a brighter future.
Light Up Hope lights a path out of poverty through education, health, mentorship and mental health interventions in underprivileged and under resourced communities in Kenya. We do this through three programs which EMPOWER, PROTECT, EDUCATE, MENTOR & HEAL:
1. High School and Primary School Sponsorship
2. WOVEN - Our Women of Vision Education iNitiative
3. School Feeding Programs focused on those areas highly affected by the drought.
"I saw firsthand how hunger can affect a child's ability to learn. Hunger makes it hard to focus, hard to retain information, hard to learn."
"If not for this program, I would be living with my mother doing manual labor
around or being a night tutor for some kids in the area (since I had good grades in
school). In the slums a lot of teens and other young adults have turned to crime as a way of fending for themselves and their families, as many of the friends I grew up
with are now criminals whilst others have been murdered, there may be a chance
that if not for this program I would have ended like them." Ellis - Program recipient since 2012
Our mission is to provide education and health interventions which "light a path out of poverty" and bring hope for a brighter future for impoverished students and communities in Kenya.
We believe that simply being born into poverty should not dictate the end of an individual's story.
Central to our mission is ensuring that women, children and young adults from impoverished communities in Kenya can embrace hope for their futures.
