Background Statement
Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy (originally A Kid’s Place) was founded in 1995 to support child victims in Weld County. Initially formed under United Way, the organization became an independent nonprofit in 1998, coordinating forensic interviews for child victims in a neutral, child-focused, and culturally responsive environment.
The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) program began under United Way in 1997, training community volunteers appointed by judges to ensure that abused and neglected children have a consistent, informed voice in court—helping each child reach a safe, permanent home. In 2000, CASA joined A Kid’s Place, and the two programs have worked together for nearly 25 years to advance child protection and healing.
Today, Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy provides advocacy and support for children who have experienced sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, neglect, exposure to violence, or drug endangerment. The agency promotes coordinated investigations, prosecutions, and victim services through its nationally accredited Child Advocacy Center and CASA programs.
To meet growing needs, a satellite Child Advocacy Center opened in Fort Lupton in 2010, expanding access to families in southern Weld County. The organization rebranded as Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy in 2016 to better reflect its mission and the stories of hope and resilience it helps families reclaim.
After purchasing and renovating its current Greeley building in 2017–2018, Life Stories added an onsite counseling suite and medical exam room in 2022—further strengthening services for children and families across northern Weld County.
Looking ahead, Life Stories is excited to announce that its Fort Lupton Satellite location will relocate to a larger, more modern facility in Firestone in 2026. This new site will expand access, enhance collaboration, and strengthen support for children and families throughout southern Weld County—while maintaining the Greeley location to continue serving families in the north.
