Nearly 50 years ago, The Center on Colfax was
created in response to a powerful need.
People needed a place where LGBTQ+ people could come together, feel seen,
and step out of darkness and isolation into community and wholeness.
For decades, our doors have stayed open because community is our strength.
In community, we find our power.
Today, that need is just as urgent. More than 50,000 people rely on The Center every year
— LGBTQ+ youth and young adults looking for safety and affirmation, seniors finding connection,
transgender and nonbinary community members seeking resources, queer community members
with disabilities, allies, and so many others who count on us for belonging and support.
To keep this vital work strong, we’re inviting you to

Mission
The mission of The Center on Colfax is to engage, empower, enrich, and advance the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and queer community of Colorado.
Background Statement
For nearly five decades, The Center on Colfax has been Denver’s LGBTQ+ community institution—a lifeline, beacon, and a gathering place. We serve thousands annually through peer programs, social groups and youth outreach. Today, we face a growing number of new challenges. The hateful rhetoric nationwide, changes in policies and resources, and shrinking number of safe spaces are driving a migration to Colorado. We must expand our services, opportunities, and physical space to meet the needs of the queer community.
This season, The Center on Colfax invites our community to look forward—toward a more inclusive, connected, and courageous Colorado. From safe spaces and social programs to advocacy and Pride, every act of giving ensures we are able to serve today’s needs while building the foundation for what comes next.
