Tomorrow’s leaders are on the field today. Let Her Play (LHP) was founded in 2022 by former Division I collegiate athlete Gia Fruscione, driven by a powerful vision: to increase girls’ participation in sports and ensure they benefit from the lifelong advantages athletics provide—including stronger self-esteem, critical life skills, goal setting, academic and career success, and leadership development.
Let Her Play began in 2022 with just one partner—Princeton Athletics—and six women’s sports teams. In only three years, it has grown exponentially, now collaborating with more than 12 collegiate athletic departments and exposing girls to over 17 different sports. This represents an increase of over 1,000% in collegiate partnerships and more than 770% growth in team participation—powerful proof of both the demand for and impact of LHP’s mission.
Today, LHP continues to close the gender gap in youth sports by ensuring that all girls (ages 8-14) have the access, role models, and support they need to thrive. Girls remain underrepresented in sports across all income levels, races, and ethnicities—facing higher dropout rates, fewer female coaches, and limited access. LHP is working to change that. With scalable programs, a growing national presence, and a strong network of collegiate partners, we are uniquely positioned to drive lasting, systemic change.
Let Her Play’s scalable, proven model has fueled rapid expansion into various regions, states and markets—driven by growing demand and nationwide momentum:
1,500+ collegiate athletes engaged
2,500+ girls reached, ages 6–12
183% increase in sports offered (from 6 to 17)
733% increase in participating teams (from 6 to 50+)
1110% increase in college partners (now 12+), including Harvard, Notre Dame, Princeton, Seton Hall, Northwestern, and more
Active in 7 key markets/states: New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Colorado
Our mission is both simple and urgent: to increase girls’ participation and retention in sports by fostering confidence, connection, and community through the influence of collegiate female athletes and coaches.
Despite the well-documented benefits of sports—including stronger self-esteem, academic achievement, improved health, and long-term career success—girls remain significantly underrepresented in youth athletics:
Just 1 in 3 girls aged 6–12 participate in sports.
By age 14, girls drop out at nearly twice the rate of boys.
Girls from low-income communities face even greater challenges, including limited access to programs, economic barriers, a shortage of female coaches, and a lack of relatable role models.
Let Her Play is working to change this narrative—not just by introducing girls to sports, but by creating the community and connections that keep them playing. When girls meet athletes who look like them, succeed at high levels, and lead with confidence, they begin to believe: "If she can see it, she can be it."
