Background Statement
Over sixteen years ago, a set of visionary Latino families and allies sought to establish Colorado’s first Latino foundation. Their dream was to create a culturally relevant philanthropic entity to tackle some of the most pressing issues facing the community. This vision was realized through the commitment of 17 families and several foundations who joined together in 2007 to create the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado (LCFC) as an initiative of Rose Community Foundation.
In 2019, the Latino Community Foundation of Colorado launched as an independent 501c3 nonprofit organization to further expand the impact of the organization across the state. During their tenure, LCFC has:
• Helped establish the groundwork for building strong Latino-led organizations and cultivating leaders.
• Educated Latinos about philanthropy and fostered an environment where they see themselves as givers and investors of social change.
• Built strong connections to grow capacity and encourage the civic engagement the Latino community needs to thrive.
As of 2023, LCFC has invested more than $13 million in Latino communities throughout Colorado. We helped over 2,000 local leaders and 150 Latino-led and Latino-serving nonprofit organizations providing services to immigrants, refugees, youth, women, older adults, and other key groups in their community leverage over $50 million dollars. As one of only six Latino foundations in the United States, LCFC is a key player in Colorado’s philanthropic sector.
Last year, LCFC celebrated its 15 year anniversary and launched its first endowment campaign, One Community. One Legacy to pave a generational path that supports the entire community for decades to come.
We honor the seeds planted by our founding families and foundation by working to achieve a future where all Latinos in Colorado are actively and powerfully involved in all facets of living in Colorado and reaping the rewards of their many contributions.
