Mission
The mission of the Latina SafeHouse is to provide bilingual and culturally sensitive services to Latina victims of domestic violence and their families.
Background Statement
Latina SafeHouse (LSH) was founded in 2003 by several Latina leaders to support victims of domestic violence across the Denver Metro area with culturally and linguistically responsive behavioral health, self-sufficiency, advocacy, and legal services. Initially LSH was staffed completely by volunteers providing direct services and fundraising to help sustain the organization. In 2010, LSH secured its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and within two years, received seed funding from the Denver District Attorney's Victim Assistance and Law Enforcement (VALE) fund that enabled the organization to hire a staff member, launch support groups, engage in community outreach, and establish numerous partnerships with service providers. Since its founding Latina SafeHouse continues to develop programming that incorporates the latest of behavioral health technologies to ensure the trauma suffered by victims of domestic violence is addressed. Unlike other organizations, Latina SafeHouse acknowledges and builds on cultural strengths, especially the love for family and community in supporting the well-being and success of the women we serve.
