Larimer County Genealogical Society

Our society was established in 1974 with our Society’s members united by a driving passion for genealogy, a desire to learn, and to share their knowledge with others, thus our mission statement is simple: Research – Learning – Fellowship! Our society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, and our major goals are:

1. To promote interest in genealogy and family history.
2. To encourage and instruct members and anyone interested, in research methods including careful documentation and the maintenance of quality genealogical standards.
3. To locate, preserve and index, public and private genealogical records and make such records available.
4. To assist and support any genealogical library in Colorado which is open to the public.

Besides our 12 to 15 annual classes taught by experienced instructors held at three Larimer County library systems (Fort Collins, Loveland, & Windsor). we offer monthly study groups by experienced facilitators on Ancestry.com, British research, Colonial research, DNA research, Family History Writing, German research, Irish research, & Technology. In addition, we also offer weekly genealogy help at the Fort Collins Downtown Library and Loveland Library on Thursday afternoons.

Our donations are used for genealogy projects such as creating new databases on existing Larimer County records related to genealogy or family history, providing outside genealogy speakers for our monthly meetings, study groups, and our annual classes. Since we are a volunteer group, NO fees are used for our staff, but some fees at less than 5% are used for basic supplies if needed!
