Since 1990, your donations to the League of Animals and People of the Summit (LAPS) have assisted local pet owners and our Summit County Animal Shelter (SCAS).  Our programs keep pets healthy and with their families and assist SCAS with special programs to reduce pet overpopulation. We are the only nonprofit providing financial assistance to the Summit Community for emergency veterinary care and spay / neuter assistance.  Please donate today so we can continue to provide this life saving service.

Here is an example of how your donations have changed lives this year:

I can’t thank you enough for the help. This was my first pet emergency & it was so stressful and sad. I volunteer at the shelter and will be sure to contribute to your organization as I can. Dr. Danielle, VEG, and the shelter were all so amazing in helping me learn about FIP and best treat my kitty. Fingers crossed she continues to improve!

UPDATE:  Kala is doing so great. You would never know she was sick. She’s happy, playing, gaining weight. And is the sweetest kitten.  Thank you again so much for your help!  Randi & Kala 2025

Your kindness came at a time when I was feeling overwhelmed and worried about how I would be able to afford the care Duckie needs & continue with our moving plans. Housing in the county is a difficult & unique challenge! Duckie means the world to me, and knowing she will be cared for properly is truly priceless.  This support will not only help financially, but it has also reminded me that there are caring people and organizations out there who make a real difference in the lives of others.

UPDATE:  Duckie is doing very well! Thank you again for everything!!   Nicole & Duckie 2025

Please make a difference and help us continue our mission and programs to help the Summit County Community.

Mission

LAPS is dedicated to helping control pet overpopulation through spay / neuter funding, as well as, assisting qualified pet owners who live or work in Summit County with unexpected veterinary bills.

Background Statement

In 1990, then Summit County Animal Shelter Manager Nancy Ring decided that Summit County, CO needed a non-profit devoted to the welfare of our local pets. She wanted to promote the spaying and neutering of these pets, and also wanted to be able to help people who could not afford their veterinary bills. For over 30 years LAPS has helped thousands of pets and their owners in our Summit community.
