La Serra Collective

We believe those who engage with the arts are more empathetic, think in more nuanced ways, and have deeper meaning and purpose in life. Problematically, though, the way art is defined and exists in our culture has many barriers to entry and does not deliver on this potential. La Serra is here to address this problem.

Our mission is to promote a new cultural definition, understanding and means of experiencing art.

Art should be for everyone. Art makes us feel connected and tapped into the underlying root system of human communication. Art inspires a sense of awe and wonder about not only our own human disposition but humanity as a whole. It builds on our sense of self value and engages us to think critically and independently. Art protests binaries, highlights nuance, and presents a view of the world based on quality, challenging and progressing our cultural value system. Art gives meaning and mode to life.

Too often, art can feel intimidating, elitist, or downright confusing. In that context, art becomes something frivolous that feels like it is for a very small group of insiders with a certain level of education or socioeconomic status and there are incentives for those insiders to keep it that way. But with this perspective,  we fail to see all the ways art is already intertwined in our daily lives. We miss all the opportunities it presents to us to be mindful, present, and introspective. We fail to contextualize our own interests and passions in the vast and grand lineage of human creation and existence. Now more than ever, we need community, empathy, and nuance to navigate political, social, and environmental challenges of our time. Art is a unique tool that can provide exactly that, and it has played that role for millennia. La Serra aims to shift the way art exists in culture so that we can once again capitalize on the potential art has to transform our lives. This is our approach to activism.

La Serra Collective has three branches: La Serra Design, La Serra Studios, and La Serra In Bloom. While we are still a small organization, each branch is active and progressing in small ways.

• La Serra Design: Through a tiered pricing system, we aim to provide people with home goods at a quality level that will inspire and at a price point that fits their individual budget, inspiring further curation and collection.
• La Serra Studios is a residency program that provides space and time to creatives from every background. If you have an idea that aligns with our mission, we want to help bring that to fruition. Creating a diverse community of passionate people under the auspice of expanding what art can be and do is our idea of a think tank that can change the world.
• La Serra in Bloom is our take on what a thoughtful and immersive art experience and gallery should be. By providing a hyper curated experience, we hope people leave with an expanded idea of all the ways art manifests and likely already exists in their lives.
