Kyle’s Mountain House: A Place of Care, Comfort, and Community

At Kyle’s Mountain House (KMH), we believe that every child and family facing complex medical challenges deserves compassionate care, dignity, and support. We are building Colorado’s first dedicated pediatric palliative respite home—a sanctuary where children and young adults with severe medical conditions can receive overnight respite, palliative, and hospice care in a warm, home-like setting.

Families navigating these challenges often experience isolation, exhaustion, and financial strain. At KMH, we provide a place of relief and renewal, where caregivers can take a break knowing their loved ones are in expert, loving hands.

Why KMH? Addressing a Critical Gap in Pediatric Palliative Care

🌟 16,433 children in Colorado live with severe medical conditions.

🌟 24% of caregivers reduce or leave employment due to care responsibilities.

🌟 Every $1,000 spent on respite care reduces hospitalization by 8%.

🌟 40% of caregivers experience depression due to lack of support.

🌟 Colorado has no dedicated pediatric palliative respite home—until now.

Kyle’s Mountain House is more than a facility—it’s a lifeline. With your support, we are creating a space where families can find respite, connection, and compassionate care during life’s most challenging moments.

Mission

Kyle’s Mountain House (KMH) provides compassionate overnight respite, palliative, and hospice care for medically complex children and young adults. We create a nurturing environment where families find support, comfort, and dignity during life's most challenging moments.

Background Statement

Kyle was the son of Sharon and Jeff Wojahn. He loved family time and the great outdoors and this tremendous passion for nature led him to study Geology at the University of Arizona. Kyle enjoyed nothing more than challenging himself with all kinds of adventures including mountain climbing and fishing and sharing these good times with his friends and family.

At just 24 years old, Kyle received his glioblastoma diagnosis. When doctors told Kyle that after brain surgery he might never walk again, he went on to astound everyone by continuing to climb mountains, play golf, fish, and test his mental and physical stamina. He was a total optimist and lived a life full of adventure, refusing to take no for an answer.

When the idea of creating a palliative care home began, we envisioned Kyle being here with us on the day of the grand opening as the champion behind the cause. Kyle would remind everyone that miracles do happen, and challenges can be overcome. Although Kyle’s life ended much too soon, we believe he is still with us on this journey and continues to walk with us each step of the way, guiding us from above.
