Testimonials

Having Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center as a location to do child SANE exams has proven invaluable to our community. In the past, families had to come to the busy Emergency Department for a SANE exam, which many found to be cold and frightening. The warm child-friendly environment at the CAC helps ensure that the SANE exam does not add to the burden of stress and trauma of an abused child and their non-offending caregivers. Some children sustain injury and need a follow-up exam by our nurses. The CAC's environment has also increased compliance with the child/family returning to complete their care, since they do not dread returning.

Mission

Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center's mission is to provide advocacy, education and promote healing for children who have disclosed sexual or physical abuse and their non-offending caregivers.

Background Statement

Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child-friendly, safe, and neutral location where children and their non-offending caregivers receive advocacy and support to ease the trauma experienced during the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases.

Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center was develop out of the need to provide a multidisciplinary response for children and their families after a disclosure of sexual or physical abuse has been made and to reduce the trauma children faced by having to repeat their experiences over and over to multiple agencies.

In collaboration with law enforcement agencies in the 11th Judicial District, the Fremont County Department of Human Services, St. Thomas More Hospital, the 11th Judicial District Attorney's Office, area businesses and community members, Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center was established in 2018 and became an independent nonprofit organization in August 2019.

As an Accredited Child Advocacy Center with the National Children's Alliance (NCA), Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center follows strict guidelines as outlined in the child advocacy center model. The child advocacy center model aims to reduce trauma by bringing all disciplines together, sharing information more efficiently, and minimizing the number of times a child must tell their story.
