Background Statement
Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is a child-friendly, safe, and neutral location where children and their non-offending caregivers receive advocacy and support to ease the trauma experienced during the investigation and prosecution of child abuse cases.
Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center was develop out of the need to provide a multidisciplinary response for children and their families after a disclosure of sexual or physical abuse has been made and to reduce the trauma children faced by having to repeat their experiences over and over to multiple agencies.
In collaboration with law enforcement agencies in the 11th Judicial District, the Fremont County Department of Human Services, St. Thomas More Hospital, the 11th Judicial District Attorney's Office, area businesses and community members, Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center was established in 2018 and became an independent nonprofit organization in August 2019.
As an Accredited Child Advocacy Center with the National Children's Alliance (NCA), Kindred Kids Child Advocacy Center follows strict guidelines as outlined in the child advocacy center model. The child advocacy center model aims to reduce trauma by bringing all disciplines together, sharing information more efficiently, and minimizing the number of times a child must tell their story.
