Breakthrough T1D is accelerating life-changing breakthroughs to cure, prevent and treat type one diabetes (T1D) and its complications.
"Breakthrough T1D has supported me in many ways in various aspects throughout my life. It's not just about raising funds and advancing science, it's about supporting families. It's about advocacy and getting CGM [continuous glucose monitoring] approved for the Medicare population. And it's about this amazing network of individuals, who are brought together for a joint cause they are passionate about."
Jennifer Sherr, M.D., Ph.D., Yale School of Medicine, Breakthrough T1D-funded Researcher
Breakthrough T1D is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Breakthrough T1D's goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until we achieve a world without T1D. Breakthrough T1D collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.
• Because of donors like you, we are ready to take on the future of type 1 diabetes (T1D). Here are some of the things you make possible:
* Cures. Yes, that's plural. Breakthrough T1D is funding many different avenues to a world without T1D. From immunotherapy to beta cell therapies, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, we have momentum and we are not letting up even for a minute on our pursuit of cures for T1D.
* Advocacy. The Special Diabetes Program (SDP) and Breakthrough T1D funding work in lockstep to improve lives today and realize cures tomorrow. The SDP is set to expire on September 30, 2025 and we are doing everything we can to ensure that it is renewed so the research it makes possible can continue.
* Community. The first few years of T1D are incredibly difficult and it's often the time when families meet the Breakthrough T1D community. From that day on, we want to support those living with T1D at every stage of their lives. We will continue to connect and provide the best possible support for every person with T1D.
* These are just a few of the many, many things your support makes possible! We are so thankful for you!
