Background Statement
The passion and drive behind James Resource Network was born out of the personal experience of the Founding Director, Sandra Coen, when she found herself in the unexpected position of a single mother of three daughters, getting by on an income 70% lower than most of her adult life. She faced many of the same overwhelming problems every single parent confronts, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. From a place of pain, came the vision known today as James Resource Network (JRN) - a network of reinforcement undergirding single parents. JRN's supportive community includes program services and resources to make the transition less difficult.
We incorporated as a Colorado Nonprofit Corporation in 2005 and formally received our Federal 501(C)3 designation in January of 2008. SheShe's Corner, the upscale resale store owned by JRN, opened in March 2009 and has provided not only a stream of income through the sales of women's clothing, accessories ,and home furnishings, but also an excellent point of contact with our community.
JRN has been working hard to develop quickly, with first-hand knowledge of many needs, financial and housing challenges facing single parent families. The dream is to develop a community resource network was born - and is now growing - to include transitional housing in the next five years. The ultimate goal is to see families restored to wholeness, hope, and a future filled with possibilities and self sufficiency.
