Requests for Donations for Cultural Activities and a Hydration Station
Our Jackson County Seniors make up 35% of the population in Jackson County. The nearest pharmacies, doctors, dentists, and some specialty therapists are over 60 miles away.  Cultural activities for our Seniors can be severely limited.
While we can offer many cultural activities, we do not currently have the additional $5,000-$10,000 funding to support the requests that we have had from our Seniors for the following classes: Painting; Cooking; Exercise; Sewing; Crafts; and trips to the Rocky Mountain Repertory Theatre in Grand Lake. Colorado.
Another funding request by our Seniors has been for a new Hydration Station to replace the one that no longer is working.  We would like to provide a station that would allow the Seniors to fill their water containers for use at the JCCOA Center and their homes.  The cost of the station is $5,000 with an additional $400 annual service fee.  In addition, the JCCOA would like to furnish hydration jelly drops to our Seniors at a cost of $200/month or $2,400/year.  This would benefit our Seniors who sometimes struggle to stay hydrated, which can lead to health complications ranging from mild to life-threatening, such as urinary tract infections (UTI's), heat stroke, heart problems, kidney failure and blood clot complications.  Since dehydration affects the health of your cells, it can also lower your bodies ability to ward off infections and heal from an injury or illness.
