Testimonials

For our residents, The Inn is more than just shelter; it's a home that offers hope for the future. A recent resident shared, "I'm so grateful. The Inn Between really saved my life. I left a life of domestic violence. I love it here, and I call it home. Now I am saving for a place for me and my daughter. After my time with The Inn Between, I will never be homeless again."

"I came to The Inn Between as a homeless teen in the Student Incentive Program and graduated from high school. Not long after, I became a teen mom. 10 years later, I'm still employed by Boulder County and my son is grown. I own a home and my son just graduated from college with a 4 year degree! It's because of The Inn and all the support you gave me that I have a stable happy life now. Thank you."

-A Former Inn Resident

"Without question what attracts me most about the agency is the Inn's ability to change people's lives for the long term. I have seen the results first-hand: their participants want to get back on their feet and improve their lives for the long-term."

Background Statement

For 30 years, The Inn Between of Longmont has provided affordable housing and path to long-term housing stability for low-income households facing homelessness. One of our community’s most critical issues is a lack of affordable housing – leading many of our most vulnerable members to suddenly find themselves in a housing crisis.

Homelessness is happening to all types of people in our community, bringing with it a myriad of struggles. Those experiencing it do not necessarily live on the streets. They might be serving you coffee or sitting next to your child in school. They lack a primary residence. Their housing might be a motel room, a vehicle, or other unstable situation.  The constant struggle is exhausting as time and energy are spent trying to make ends meet.

With six buildings in Longmont, The Inn Between is the go-to housing resource in the St. Vrain Valley. It operates at full capacity year-round, providing affordable and safe housing for low-income families. On any given night, close to 100 people live within our six apartment buildings, ranging from infants right up through senior citizens. Last year, 212 people lived at the Inn - 73 of them were children from our St. Vrain Valley School District!

At The Inn, mothers and fathers no longer have to worry about where their children will sleep and their children can just focus on being kids! Adults develop new skills, re-enter the workforce, rectify financial setbacks, and pursue careers so they can develop long-term housing stability. Adults can re-enter the workforce or continue their education, children can resolve achievement gaps resulting from homelessness with support from an Education Center tutor, and elderly and the disabled with low fixed incomes find a permanent housing solution.

All Inn residents are championed by Advocates who identify and assist with navigating resources that support their plan to build a stable future. People have an opportunity to make homelessness only a chapter in life, not the whole story.

“The Inn Between kept me and my son from being homeless on the street. We were losing our housing and I was referred by my son's school. Six months later we were in and it was a blessing!” ~ Single mother

The Inn works directly with 16 local agencies to ensure a diverse range of people have access to their housing and services. These relationships allow for efficient use of community resources at a fraction of what it would cost local government to address the crises via emergency services, sheltering, etc. Our community grows stronger with each household’s success and children gain a foothold in our collective future.
