Impact Charitable bridges the gap between philanthropy and traditional finance. Our current financial systems create barriers that prevent impact capital from reaching the communities that need it most. We exist to help close those gaps.
Since our founding, we’ve moved nearly $100M through 18 different vehicles—including grants, investments, donor-advised funds, and direct cash transfers—supporting 50+ active companies and initiatives driving economic mobility, housing, employee ownership, and climate resilience.
As a catalytic capital intermediary, we work with public and private funders who think impact first, vehicle second, helping design and deploy creative capital strategies that fuel both immediate needs and systemic change.
We envision a world in which all communities thrive by having access to the resources and opportunities needed for a just, equitable, and sustainable world.
We at Gary Community have partnered with Impact Charitable across a range of innovative and pioneering initiatives and capital tools. The organization has been a critical ally and a powerful part of the impact capital ecosystem. We also love that the team at Impact Charitable is passionate, professional, and dedicated to making a difference, consistently going above and beyond to ensure the success of each project. Their unique and strategic approach to community development has not only strengthened our partnership but has also inspired us to think more creatively and holistically about our own initiatives.

Impact Charitable has been a great partner to Social Venture Partners Denver from co-creating the Left Behind Workers Fund to facilitating impact investments for our social Impact Investor Group to be able to collaborate on investments in the Denver community. IC is not only a pleasure to work with but is also very detail-oriented and customer-focused during the due diligence process. This focus helps reduce the workload for both the investor and the investee.

As a philanthropic capital intermediary, Impact Charitable serves as a bridge between funders and communities, designing responsive pathways that unlock and accelerate capital to ventures, projects, and funds.
We envision a world in which all communities thrive by having access to the resources and opportunities needed for a just, equitable, and sustainable world.
We move more money, in more ways, to more people and places.
Impact Charitable was founded in the summer of 2014. Ed Briscoe saw donor advised funds as a source of capital that should be dedicated to impact investing. Donor advised funds in the United States now likely surpass $100 billion with few of those dollars intentionally creating positive impact. Funds set aside for charity can be held in donor advised funds for sometimes over a decade after they generate a tax deduction. In some cases, investments made with those funds may actually counteract the benefits generated by grant making if non-financial factors are not considered. It is our belief that all charitable funds should be deployed to benefit communities through impact investing until they are granted out to nonprofits working in those communities.
The official public launch of our work was in the fall of 2015. Our long-term assets are 100% invested in impact in a diver portfolio with a focus on locally targeted impact investing.
In 2017 and 2018, Impact Charitable moved into broadening and deepening our impact. We have moved our banking relationships to an impact focused bank, developed a more comprehensive and focused investment portfolio, and are launching multiple innovative local impact investments.
In 2018, Impact Charitable's key new investments projects include:
Investing in a local non-profit investing in women entrepreneurs overseas.
Serving as the lead investor and servicer in a innovative "structured exit" investment with a local social enterprise.
Supporting the creation of "private pay for success" investments, funding the growth and impact focus of emerging non-profit programs.
We continue to support the Dream Tank young entrepreneurs programs in Boulder and UpRoot Colorado's expanding gleaning network to gather healthy food and distribute it where it is most needed.
Throughout our history, we have provided impact investment education and advocacy in public and private forums. Our core program, "Spectrum Series", has continue with events focusing on affordable housing, barriers to employment, and women in clean energy.
