As 2025 comes to a close, we need your support more than ever! We make a promise to every single pig that comes into our sanctuary: to provide top quality care, high quality feed, and a lifetime of love and comfort. With an aging population of pigs, your support will ensure no one goes without the very best! From necessary medications, to high quality feed and bedding, and to veterinary appointments, your support directly benefits our porcine friends. With costs consistently on the rise, your support ensures we can continue to keep our promise to the pigs.

Hog Haven Farm rescues potbellied (mini) and standard breeds of pigs from situations of abandonment, abuse, neglect, and slaughter. We provide sanctuary to a minimum of 100 pigs, adopt pigs to loving forever homes, and offer education to pig owners and the general public.

Lydia--aka Big Mama--is a Hampshire who was rescued in 2020, and is living her best life in sanctuary! Big Mama is the largest resident at Hog Haven Farm, weighing nearly 900lbs.

Outreach and Education

One of Hog Haven Farm's objectives is to allow people to keep their beloved pet pigs, with proper education and resources for success. Educating current and potential pig parents about behaviors, size expectations, proper nutrition and necessary vet care is vital to ensuring pigs can remain with one family throughout the course of their life. Hog Haven Farm also has several trained therapy pigs who make public visits for educational purposes, or to spread joy to folks in need!

Mission

Hog Haven Farm is a rescue and sanctuary for potbellied and standard breeds of pigs. We promote pigs as the third domesticated pet, provide education to pig parents and the general public, promote a plant-based diet, and offer outreach programming to the greater Denver-metro community.

Background Statement

Hog Haven Farm was founded in 2014 by Erin and Andrew Burgardt. After adopting a pet pig from Craigslist, the Burgardt's discovered there is a high demand for pig rescue in Colorado. In this time, Hog Haven Farm has relocated twice, and more than 350 pigs have been rescued! In addition to providing sanctuary for and adopting pigs to the qualified families, Hog Haven Farm offers outreach programming to the Denver-metro area, including animal-assisted therapy to memory care, at-risk youth, and the mentally disabled. Hog Haven Farm also offers educational outreach to current and future pig parents, as well as the general public.
