HistoriCorps was born in Colorado, where the peaks scrape the sky and old cabins still whisper the stories of the people who built them. What began as a small group of craftspeople and dreamers determined to save those stories has grown into a national movement rooted in hands-on preservation and shared adventure.
From the San Juan Mountains to the plains near Fort Collins, our volunteers camp together sharing meals while also working shoulder to shoulder to bring new life to historic structures on public lands. Each project blends history, hard work, and heart—teaching and learning the trades that built America while building community across generations.
Though our work now stretches from coast to coast, Colorado remains our home ground. The trails we’ve hiked, the cabins we’ve restored, and the friendships forged here continue to guide everything we do. Preserving these places isn’t just about saving buildings—it’s about keeping the spirit of the West alive.
