We use sustainable agriculture to transform the lives of young people and increase access to healthy food in Garfield County.
Highwater Farm is growing food, empowering youth, and fueling community on 3 acres in Silt, Colorado. Using sustainable agricultural practices, we steward public land, improve access to healthy local food and engage teens in meaningful work.
In 2023 the farm served 120 families through an 18-week CSA program with 15% of shares made accessible to low-income families (via SNAP and WIC benefits). Over 35,000 of produce was grown and distributed this season, with 15% routed to the local food pantry system serving families from Parachute to Aspen.
Highwater's 8-week summer job training program serves youth ages 14-17. Teens complete the program with an understanding of local agriculture, improved communication and job skills, and positive relationships with peers and mentors. Crew workers who complete the summer program have the opportunity to participate in a next level internship in the fall to continue their learning and practice public speaking. By applying high standards and training in communication and team building, we bridge communities and better equip the next generation of leaders.
If our mission and work speaks to you, we hope you consider supporting our fundraising goals. As a non-profit we rely on financial support to achieve our mission. Thank you for your time!
