High Valley Community Center, Inc.

A nonprofit organization

We serve the youth through our After-School, Fabulous Fridays, and Summer programs. In each of these programs we strive to offer fresh, interesting, educational, and meaningful opportunities for students. Seeing students strive to become their best and to learn how to be productive and kind members of society is most rewarding.

The After School Program runs from 4:00-6:30 p.m. from Tuesday to Thursday. Students are offered dinner, homework assistance, reading time, physical fitness activities, and enriching activities each night. Meals served during the After School Program are sometimes the only meal our students have access to after they leave school for the day.

Our Fabulous Friday program offers participants organized, safe, and exciting activities. Students do not have school on Fridays, so our program helps to ensure that they use their time in a productive way, keeping them engaged in positive activities and giving them the skills they need to become successful members of the community. HVCC participants and families have come to rely on our program to provide supervision and enrichment that would not be available to them otherwise.  We offer field trips where youth learn and build skills in areas such as swimming, adventure activities (e.g., rock climbing, snow shoeing, hiking), and bowling. While on site, they engage in a variety of dance, arts, theatre, and gymnastics activities throughout the academic year.

During the summers, our students are offered a wide variety of activities, which emphasize the arts, physical activities, crafts, and geography. They take weekly field trips where they get to swim, fish, bowl, and visit places such as local museums, the Great Sand Dunes National Park, Zapata Falls, and Creede Repertory Theatre.

HVCC will maintain high quality out of school time K-12 youth programming. We provide consistent, culturally responsive programming utilizing Positive Youth Development, which has allowed us to become a model program for our area.
