HBA Cares is the philanthropy nonprofit associated with the Housing & Building Association of Colorado Springs. We partner with other nonprofits to support accessible and transitional housing in the Colorado Springs area.  Past projects include working with Dream Center, Mary's Home and Family Promise. HBA Cares helped to build the John Zay Guest House and expansion near the Penrose Hospital. Currently, HBA Cares is partnering with The Place, Face It Together and Pikes Peak Housing Network. Recently completed is the Woody and Millie Ingram Guest House at St. Francis Hospital, a home away from home for families undergoing cancer treatment or with a baby in the NICU. Volunteers in our community recently helped HBA Cares clean the Sinton Creek and trail during Fountain Creek Week and we are again sponsors of Koats4Kids.

Mission

HBA Cares partners with other nonprofits, engaging industry resources to support transitional and accessible housing and other community projects

Background Statement

Founded in 2004, HBA Cares is the philanthropic nonprofit of the Housing & Building Association of Colorado Springs. The organization was created to harness the skills, materials, and generosity of the local home-building industry to meet critical community needs. By collaborating with builders, contractors, suppliers, and volunteers, HBA Cares transforms construction expertise into compassion-driven action.

Over the past two decades, HBA Cares has completed numerous projects that strengthen the fabric of the Pikes Peak region — from constructing and renovating accessible housing to supporting families in medical crisis. Signature initiatives include partnerships with Dream Centers, Mary’s Home, and Family Promise, as well as the creation of the John Zay Guest House and the award-winning Woody & Millie Ingram Guest House at St. Francis Hospital.

Through these efforts, HBA Cares has built far more than structures — it has built hope, connection, and a lasting legacy of service. Today, the organization continues to unite the building industry and the community to ensure that every person in the region has access to shelter, dignity, and the opportunity to thrive.
