$10,000 Goal

Investing in Education. Empowering Futures. Strengthening Our Community.

Since 2003, the Highlands Ranch Community Scholarship Fund (HRCSF) has been investing in the future of our community by helping local students pursue their educational dreams and providing opportunities for individuals with special needs to participate in meaningful recreational experiences.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization supported by the Highlands Ranch Community Association (HRCA), the fund provides financial assistance to graduating high school seniors pursuing college, trade school, and other post-secondary educational opportunities. Unlike many traditional scholarship programs, HRCSF places a strong emphasis on community involvement, volunteerism, and a commitment to serving others, recognizing students who are making a positive difference in the world around them.

HRCSF also supports individuals with special needs through HRCA's Therapeutic Recreation programs, helping reduce financial barriers to inclusive activities, personal instruction, and recreational opportunities that foster independence, confidence, and connection.

Since its founding, HRCSF has awarded 486 educational scholarships totaling $857,000. In 2026 alone, the fund celebrated a record-breaking year, awarding 33 scholarships to local students, thanks in part to the generosity of community partners and donors.

Every scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It represents an investment in a student's potential, a family's future, and a stronger Highlands Ranch community.

Your generosity helps open doors, create opportunities, and inspire the next generation to give back.

Mission

The mission of the Highlands Ranch Community Scholarship Fund is to empower local students to pursue post-secondary education by recognizing community involvement, encouraging volunteerism, and reducing financial barriers to opportunity. Through educational scholarships and support for inclusive therapeutic recreation, we invest in individuals, strengthen families, and inspire a lasting commitment to service within our community.

Background Statement

Founded in 2003, the Highlands Ranch Community Scholarship Fund (HRCSF) was established with a simple but meaningful purpose: to help local students achieve their educational goals while celebrating the importance of community service and giving back.

For more than two decades, HRCSF has provided financial assistance to graduating high school seniors pursuing higher education, vocational training, and other post-secondary opportunities. The program recognizes students not only for their educational aspirations but also for their volunteerism, leadership, and contributions to their communities.

What began as a commitment to supporting local students has grown into a lasting community tradition. Since its inception, HRCSF has awarded 486 scholarships totaling $857,000, helping hundreds of students take meaningful steps toward their futures.

The fund reached an exciting milestone in 2026, receiving more than 160 applications and awarding a record 33 scholarships. This expansion was made possible in part by a $32,000 donation from the Douglas County Community Foundation, funded through the Joe Roos Legacy Fund, which supported 13 additional scholarships. This partnership demonstrates the powerful impact that local organizations and individuals can make when they come together to invest in the next generation.

Beyond educational scholarships, HRCSF also helps make recreation more accessible for individuals with special needs through HRCA's Therapeutic Recreation Department. By providing financial assistance for specialized programs, group activities, and individual instruction, the fund helps create opportunities for participants to build confidence, develop skills, establish friendships, and experience the benefits of an inclusive community.

HRCSF is funded through charitable contributions, community partnerships, and proceeds from HRCA's signature annual Highlands Ranch Beer Festival. No HRCA member assessment dollars are used to fund the scholarship program.

Every contribution, regardless of size, directly supports the fund's mission of expanding educational and recreational opportunities for individuals and families in our community.

As HRCSF looks toward the future, its commitment remains unchanged: to recognize service, remove barriers, and help individuals achieve their full potential.

Together, we can continue building a legacy of opportunity, generosity, and community impact for generations to come.
