Testimonials

"We heard about Guided Hope when a neighbor told us about it, and we started by going to a Roundup. Guided Hope really helped with Autumn’s mental and health challenges, and we liked the Christian atmosphere and community. Autumn started helping with chores and became a Wrangler. When she started that, we saw her confidence building. Then, she started helping with Roundups and leading as a Wrangler, and the horses became her best friends. It helped her emotionally and mentally. Guided Hope has been a Godsend for our family. Now, Autumn and I do chores together and that’s been a relationship building activity for us. Autumn went from being a timid child to being a leader of other children and teenagers, and she’s been able to connect with other children with mental and health issues. That's a blessing."

Mission

Guided Hope strives to mentor children, strengthen families, share hope, and inspire service through ranch activities. We serve children, teens, adults, and families, whether they have experienced challenging circumstances or simply wish to strengthen their families through shared time and serving on the ranch. Guests who are touched by grief, military service, foster care, adoption, medical hardships, as well as anyone who wants to reconnect, grow, laugh, learn, and serve all benefit from our Roundup experience!  We are a ranch filled with God's amazing creation and the hope we have in Jesus.

Background Statement

As a newly married couple in 2000, Guy and Kaarin Scoma discussed their

dreams. Blessed by the incredible support Guy had received as a young widower and father, he had many ideas on how to provide hope, encouragement and resources for others. Kaarin had been training to be a Therapeutic Riding Instructor and sought an opportunity to help others through animals and country living, while utilizing her event planning and ranch experiences.

In 2008, friends and family proposed they inquire about "Crystal Peaks Youth Ranch" and their annual training clinics on starting your own non-profit. Over the next four years, the Scomas made the required preparations (securing the necessary land, animals, Board of Directors, and working crew) to ensure the success of Guided Hope. On May 1st, 2012, their dream became a reality with the official incorporation.

Word soon spread, and they grew a volunteer base, which continues to support guests each summer. Guided Hope will soon celebrate their tenth year of offering Roundups and shares its program during over 500 guests visits per year.
