We are Greater Park Hill Community, Inc. (GPHC), a longstanding registered neighborhood organization and nonprofit that fosters community-building initiatives and gives back to our community by providing a multitude of critical no-cost programs to residents in Park Hill and beyond.

Among our many community programs is a volunteer-run, client-choice food pantry, which allocates food-insecure individuals and families 24 pantry visits per year. Across our five food programs, we’ve distributed more than SIX tons of food to upwards of 10,000 individuals and families.

We hosted an annual Thanksgiving giveaway (this is our 12th year!) that provided 1,700 Thanksgiving meals to more than 475 in-need neighbors, Smith Elementary School families and low-income senior communities. As well, we provide a weekend food program to support the Vickers Boys and Girls Club, a seasonal farm stand and a spring seed and seedling giveaway that helps our low-income neighbors jumpstart their own vegetable gardens. All of our food programs are free and only made possible by the generosity of our supportive community.

We are fierce proponents of sustainable practices and have achieved Certifiably Green Denver Business status every year since 2017 by meeting a set of criteria in energy efficiency, water conservation, resource conservation, alternative transportation and business management.

Additionally, we strive to establish a zero-waste mentality in the neighborhood and at all GPHC events by encouraging residents to reduce the waste they create and to properly dispose of what they can’t reduce through recycling, composting and donating. We also promote low- and no-cost ways for neighbors and local businesses to conserve energy and opt for renewable energy sources whenever possible. Additionally, we host quarterly neighborhood cleanups.

Our board of directors is heavily involved in the community and participates in numerous advocacy projects, including the Northeast Park Hill Coalition, Inter-Neighborhood Cooperation (INC), Discover Denver, Denver Streets Partnership, City Park Friends and Neighbors (CPFAN), Park Hill the Beautiful Campaign, Save Open Space Denver, land use and preservation, Earth Day and neighborhood cleanups, Northeast Park Hill Snow Patrol and the Park Hill Climate Committee.

We host community meetings every month (except July and December) at our office, as well as several community-building events throughout the year, including the beloved Home Tour and Street Fair, Fourth of July parade (Denver’s largest!), Park Hill Garden Walk, Park Hill Yard Sal  and the Park Hill Community Fall Festival, all of which brings us together to celebrate the vibrancy of our neighborhood.

And last, but certainly not least, we publish the award-winning Greater Park Hill News, which is bundled and delivered by volunteers to 13,000 households, churches, community centers and businesses in and around Park Hill. The newspaper is free to residents and an invaluable news source.

Please consider donating to GPHC so we can continue to support and advocate on behalf of the wonderful community we serve. You can read more about our history, organization, programs and initiatives on our website
