Our mission is simple yet profound: to ensure that no one in our community faces hardship alone. Through our food pantry, we provide families with access to healthy, nourishing options in times of crisis. Through our financial assistance program, we help prevent evictions and utility shutoffs, offering stability when it’s needed most. And through our thrift store, we not only provide affordable goods but also generate crucial funding that sustains our programs year-round.

We are powered by compassion, community, and collaboration. With only two full-time and a part-time staff members and a dedicated team of volunteers, we serve hundreds of individuals and families each year—neighbors who might otherwise go without food, warmth, or hope.

Our Impact

In recent years, the growing cost of living and limited affordable housing have placed increased strain on families and individuals across Jefferson County. In response, Golden Pantry & Thrift has expanded its programs to meet these challenges head-on.

Each year, we:

  • Provide hundreds of families with fresh and nutritious groceries through our sustainable food pantry.

  • Offer financial assistance to prevent eviction and utility shutoffs through our Crisis Fund.

  • Award the Golden Opportunity Scholarship to help local students pursue higher education.

  • Distribute clothing and essential items through our thrift store and community partnerships.

  • Provide referrals and warm connections to other agencies for long-term support and stability.

We believe that dignity and respect should accompany every act of service. Whether it’s through a meal, a conversation, or a helping hand, we meet people where they are—with empathy and understanding.

Join Us

Golden Pantry & Thrift thrives because of the generosity of our community. Every donation, volunteer hour, and thrift store purchase directly supports our mission and helps ensure that essential resources remain available to those who need them most.

Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate Golden—one where every neighbor has access to food, stability, and hope.

Because when our community comes together, everyone thrives.

Giving Activity

Mission

To provide a sustainable food pantry, financial assistance, and referrals to other community services for Golden area residents experiencing crisis or hardship.

Background Statement

Since 1965, Golden Pantry & Thrift has been a cornerstone of support for the Golden community—providing food to those in need and offering affordable clothing and household goods through our thrift store. What began as a small initiative in an outbuilding has grown into a vital resource for local families, thanks to decades of dedicated volunteers, donors, and community partnerships.

Over the decades, we’ve evolved to meet the changing needs of our community. From distributing food and clothing to offering emergency financial assistance and referrals, we’ve remained steadfast in our mission—to serve those experiencing crisis and to uplift the dignity of every individual who walks through our doors.

Our programs are made possible by more than 90 volunteers, who dedicate over 20,000 hours each year to our mission. The building we occupy today was constructed by the community itself, symbolizing the enduring bond between our organization and the city we serve. What began as a grassroots effort continues today as a collective movement toward compassion, sustainability, and hope.
