To provide high quality early learning for children, ages 8 weeks through 6 years, that encourages growth and exploration through cognitive, language, physical, and social/emotional development in a safe and nurturing environment.

Background Statement

We have a rich history of our organization even though we technically are just shy of being 5 years old as Grand Kids Learning Center (GKLC). GKLC was formed after Grand Kids absorbed Fraser Creative Learning Center. Grand Kids was originally founded as a childcare center managed and funded by Winter Park Resort. The center moved locations in November 1998 from Winter Park Resort to one of our current locations in the Wapiti Meadows Housing Development in Fraser, Colorado. In 2002, the Wapiti Child Care Center Parent Organization (WCCCPO) was incorporated as a non-profit organization under IRS section 501c3 guidelines. Our organization was formed to help meet the needs of the children in our care that were not being met through the regular budget, specifically extracurricular and enrichment programs that enhance our children’s social, emotional, and academic growth.

In June of 2003, Winter Park Resort announced that effective July 1, 2004, they would withdraw from managing and funding the operation of the Wapiti Child Care Center. The WCCCPO transformed from an organization providing enhancements for the center to an organization overseeing and directing operations with the support of a director who manages daily operations for GKLC.

In September 2018, when we began as Grand Kids Learning Center, we gained the history of the Fraser Creative Learning Center which began in operating a preschool in 1979 at our 150 Eastom Ave. site. Grand Kids Learning Center can accommodate 50 children daily (8 infants, 7 toddlers, 9 junior preschoolers, 13 preschoolers, and 13 pre-kindergarteners).

In February of 2024, we opened Grand Kids Learning Center in Granby after another child care program had closed their doors in the Fall of 2024 in the same location. This location can accommodate 40 children daily in 4 classrooms (8 infants-classroom yet to open; 8 toddlers; 12 junior preschoolers; 12 pre-kindergartners).

The organization currently serves 58 families, many of which have multiple children attending Grand Kids Learning Center. We successfully run 8 classrooms out of our three locations. Our Fraser infant room, toddler room and junior preschool classroom are housed out of our 505 Willow Lane location in Fraser, our Fraser preschool classroom and pre-k classroom are located at our 150 Eastom Ave. in Fraser location and our Granby toddler room, junior preschool room and pre-k classroom are located at 43 Ten Mile Drive in Granby. We are anticipate being able to open our Granby infant classroom in 2025.

We are working on an expansion project to better meet the needs of our community, which would allow us to serve at a minimum 50 more children daily.
