Mesa County is extremely fortunate to have an abundance of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors and come together to celebrate our community. The GJ Plays Foundation seeks to further the development of recreational opportunities in the community. We believe that having easy access to parks, facilities, and programs nurtures a stronger community and helps it's members live happier and healthier lives.
From partnering with local government organizations to raise funds for additional park amenities and completing projects, to assisting in the start-up of grassroots campaigns to advocate for world-class facilities such as the Grand Junction Community Recreation Center, the GJ Plays Foundation supports efforts to make recreation an essential part of our community.

The GJ Plays Foundation started in 2020 through a belief that strong parks & recreation programs and facilities create a stronger and healthier community. We started off supporting the grassroots effort to generate community support for building a Community Recreation Center in Grand Junction. After the successful passing of the 2023 ballot measure, we have continued to advocate and seek funding for parks & recreation programs and facilities such as the development of Matchett Park and the completion of the riverfront trail. Additionally, we raise funds to support scholarship opportunities minimizing financial barriers for families.
