Background Statement
Genesis was founded in 2002 by a group of women who understood the unique needs of single mothers and the financial struggle of raising children on one income. At that time, Genesis offered parenting support groups and classes through area churches. It became immediately apparent that low-cost housing was a huge need.
In 2017 a series of amazing events took place to allow GPNC to purchase a historic home in Greeley, Colorado’s downtown district. This home accommodates 6 individual families and a Resident Advisor in individual apartments and has common areas for classes, play, dining and laundry. Through generous donors and savings, the house was renovated and accepted its first program residents in 2018. In 2021, new program guidelines were adopted, allowing for families to not only benefit from housing, but also receive counseling, classes, and support with measurable outcomes.
