$5,000 Goal

Front-Porch Felines was formally organized in 2018. Our work improves the lives and reduces suffering among feral, community cats in Fort Lupton, Colorado. What began as feeding 7 ferals in a broken-down horse trailer has morphed into feeding over 100 community cats every day - - cats that otherwise would not be fed at all.  Over the years, hundreds of community cats have been altered and gone on to live long, healthy lives, free from constant fighting, wandering and repeated litters, thanks to the 100% volunteer efforts of Front-Porch Felines.

Our work helps to improve the lives of hundreds of these hard-working felines, each year. We subscribe to Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return, also known as TNVR. Each feral cat is humanely trapped, altered at a veterinarian's office, vaccinated for rabies and distemper and returned to their home colony, after a short recovery. Any kittens we trap, are tamed, altered and adopted into great, indoor-only homes with the help of our adoption partners. This redirects the lives of hundreds of innocent kittens.

Over time, the work we do saves tens, then hundreds, then thousands of cats from being surrendered to local shelters where many will face certain euthanasia. We need your help in order to continue this important work. Will you join us in saving lives by making a generous donation?

Mission

It is the mission, duty, and purpose of Front-Porch Felines to alleviate suffering in the feral cat population by means of education, sterilization, nutritious food, shelter, and medical care. It is our intent to help individuals or businesses manage feral cats on their property or under their care. Although feral cats are not normally socialized to people, they still have the same basic needs as our companion animals.

Background Statement

Brenda Hart started Front-Porch Felines in The Aristocrat Ranchettes, a rural Colorado subdivision that’s home to hundreds of feral cats who gracefully let us live here with them. Their needs are great, just like any cat, if you know what I mean. However, their needs are more basic than the needs of our companion animals.

Front-Porch Felines was formed after several years of trying to address the cats’ needs, not totally on her own, but enough for it to be overwhelming. It started with feeding 7 cats living in an old horse trailer and took off from there. Four years later she was feeding over 100 cats, with many of her neighbors also feeding feral cats. In a 8-year period, over 700 feral cats have been trapped, spayed or neutered, vaccinated and returned to their homes. We have trapped at over 35 residences and rounded up more than 250 kittens and tame cats who have gone on to be adopted.

We were awarded our 501(c)(3) as of September 14, 2018
