Friends of Lory State Park

A nonprofit organization

With unprecedented levels of visitation, park fees only cover some of the costs of protecting and managing Lory State Park, and there remains a gap in resources and funding to fully support the park. A gift to Friends of Lory State Park makes a direct and immediate impact on closing this gap.

Testimonials

Sara Abernathy, the winner of the 2020 TREK Roscoe 7 raffle, says, "We love Lory because of the fun features, well-built trails with different difficulties, and the ability to get away from town to recreate. It's so gorgeous."

Mission

Friends of Lory State Park is dedicated to the protection, preservation, and enhancement of the Park. Friends provides volunteer leadership to foster stewardship, enhance educational and recreational opportunities in partnership with the Park, and advocate quality programs for visitors of all ages and backgrounds.

Background Statement

Friends of Lory State Park began in the fall of 2012 with a steering committee. In April 2013, the committee voted to incorporate as a non-profit organization with the purpose of supporting the Park. The Friends of Lory applied for 501(c)(3) non-profit status in March 2014 and received that status September 18, 2014. The FoLSP Board of Directors is a working board that guides the projects and the work we do, all with the goal of supporting Lory State Park.
