The Friends of Mount Evans & Lost Creek Wilderness (FOMELC) is a 501(c)3 charitable organization founded in November 2005. FOMELC is a 100% volunteer non-profit organization. We offer volunteer opportunities for all ages, physical abilities, interests and schedules. You can help by becoming a member and contributing.
FOMELC was incorporated in order to provide the following services:

Engage in stewardship activities in partnership with the U. S. Forest Service (USFS) to preserve wilderness character of the Mount Evans and Lost Creek Wildernesses for current and future generations, including:
collecting field data to monitor changes in wilderness character
identifying and treating invasive species encroaching upon wilderness
maintaining trails and other human-impacted areas necessary to preserve wilderness character
Engage in education and outreach activities to promote a broader appreciation of wilderness character
Develop and maintain a volunteer workforce through project coordination, training, and in-field mentorship to assist the USFS in maintain wilderness character
Provide a forum for information exchange between the USFS, FOMELC membership and the general public, and other partner volunteer organizations
Establish an ongoing public education program for the Mount Evans and Lost Creek Wildernesses, their ecology, popularity, and techniques to minimize the impact of humans on these areas
