Friends of FoCo Fondo creates access, opportunity, and community connection for people who ride bikes or want to ride bikes. Based in Fort Collins, Colorado, Friends of FoCo Fondo serves riders of all ages and skill levels through group training rides, skills clinics, and a robust leadership program designed to support historically underrepresented groups in the community. Read our 2025 Impact Report.

In 2026, Friends of FoCo Fondo is deepening our impact by expanding what access looks like on two wheels.

We’re increasing funding for transfer chairs and adaptive equipment, offering more scholarships, and growing our clinics to meet riders where they are. Through these efforts—and by engaging even more community members—we’re creating new pathways to belong, connect, and ride with confidence. In addition to our current programming initiatives, we have goals to expand into the following areas:

  • Expand the scholarship program to include para riders
  • Add a new intermediate skills clinic to provide a stepping stone for beginner riders
  • Engage community members in the winter months with a community-generated “film fest” and bike mechanic classes
  • Increase visibility at FoCo Fondo with a relay race fundraiser

Together, we’re building a cycling culture where everyone feels welcome to show up and thrive.

Mission

Friends of FoCo Fondo creates access, opportunity, and community connection for people who ride bikes or want to ride bikes.

Background Statement

Many of you are familiar with our historic 10 years of FoCo Fondo presented by Fat Tire, a gravel ride and race in Northern Colorado. Our years of involvement in the community with businesses and participants taught us that there are more needs than what our event could meet alone—especially for historically marginalized groups.

The growing needs we identified became our motivation for creating Friends of FoCo Fondo, a 501(c)(3) recognized organization, to better serve our community's and people's needs. While many of our initiatives developed for BIPOC, gender expansive, women, and para athletes began under FoCo Fondo, this is our attempt to not just meet the needs, but create a thriving community.

With our formal establishment in 2024, this past year has been our first full year of engagement and community. We are excited for what exists today, and for the possibilities of what could be in the future. Thank you for being along for the ride!

The primary ways Friends of FoCo Fondo fulfills it's mission is through it's Leadership Program, scholarship programs, women's clinic, beginner's clinic, Safe Routes to School partnership, educational sessions, and community gathering events.
