Friends and Neighbors of Washington Park Inc. (aka FANS) is a non-profit, Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) organization that was created in 2008 to support Washington Park located in Denver, Colorado.
The mission of FANS is to preserve and enhance the character and safety of Washington Park through advocacy, education, and investment. FANS has a Board of Directors comprised of nine independent volunteers. These nine volunteers meet throughout the year to discuss all of the various ways that FANS can support the mission.
Just a few examples of current and past support are:
- the celebration of Washington Park's 125th Anniversary Jubilation,
- the donation of 16 Service Berry bushes and 4,400 bulbs for the gardens,
- publishing an updated version of a free, downloadable Tree Guide,
- fall bike rides around Washington Park for seniors in partnership with Cycling Without Age Limitation,
- hosting Spring Migration Bird Walks with Denver Audubon,
- restoration of the historic Lawn Bowling Shed along with Denver Parks and Recreation,
- launching to Washington Park Pollinator Corridor, and
- donation of 31 framed historical photos displayed in the Boathouse Bridal Room.
