Turn Up The Volume On Giving: Do Your Part To Keep The Music Playing

Fort Collins Musicians Association supports local musicians year-round through networking, education, and events. Your dollars can help impact our programs and what we are able to offer musicians in our community. FoCoMA's programs and events include:

FoCoMX - A Colorado music festival with 400 Colorado acts/bands on over 35 stages in Downtown Fort Collins every April. The festival showcases the exceptional and diverse talent across the Front Range. We provide equitable pay, access to new audiences, and performance opportunities to over 1,200 diverse musicians. FoCoMA also values musicians and works to provide access to artist care resources with an emphasis on community connection, harm reduction, and substance-free spaces.

Music Industry Nights - A collaborative networking event for musicians and music industry professionals to connect to each other and support resources. Past events have provided participants with farm-to-table dinners, haircuts, holiday activities, jam sessions, and private access to the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery.  We weave livability resources into the fabric of these vibrant networking events.

Music Trivia Nights - A new talent showcase event paired with teams of music fans playing trivia. Located at the Lyric, this event helps audiences discover new music artists, and immerse themselves in music with ticket giveaways and live performances.

Peer Awards - The FoCoMA Peer Awards is a 18-year-old celebration that showcases and awards the achievements of the local music community. Awards and performances at the event highlight album releases, new music projects, and lifetime achievement awards.

InTune Program - A program to help musicians lead healthy lives including alternative green rooms, peer support groups, connection to partner resources and organizations focusing on housing, fitness, nutrition and mental health. Additionally, we offer dental and hearing clinics which are a collaborative partnership with MusiCares that gives musicians, sound engineers, and gig workers access to custom ear molds, as well as dental exams, cleanings, and x-rays. Over $40,000 of dental work has been provided to our music community to date.

Mission

FoCoMA’s mission is to support all Northern Colorado musicians in our community through networking, education, and events because music changes lives.

Background Statement

Fort Collins Musicians Association (501c3 non profit organization) has served local Colorado musicians since 2007 providing unique performance opportunities, audience development, a regionally acclaimed annual music festival, and a supportive resource program. FoCoMA has a volunteer board of directors, a robust volunteer support network and helps cultivate a music community of thousands of engaged musicians, independent venues, and thousands of local music fans.

FoCoMA provides networking, education, and event-based opportunities for musicians, aiming to foster a thriving local music scene. Our work includes organizing the annual FoCoMX music festival, monthly live Music Trivia Nights, a growing Colorado Music Database, Peer Music Awards, and offering resources for musicians' mental health and overall wellness.

Our InTune musician wellness program serves musicians year-round by connecting them with personal livability resources, music business resources, health and wellness support. We host Music Industry Nights in partnership with the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery to offer a way for music community members to come together to share their ideas and skills with each other. We believe these gatherings along with our efforts around alternative green rooms, HARMs reduction, and Musician Peer Support groups offer our community a chance to network, connect with resources, and build a stronger music safety net. Additionally, we work with the nationwide nonprofit, MusiCares to offer complimentary dental, hearing and other clinics to music industry workers.

Fort Collins Musicians Association works with an array of partners to provide a full ecosystem of support for musicians. We collaborate with venues, educational efforts, professional development resources and marketing to elevate the visibility of Fort Collins as a music city. All of our work is aimed at our goal to make music and musicians more recognized as a key part of our city’s economic and cultural success.
