A lifelong love of the arts begins here.

“From the time my grandmother first brought me here at age four, the Fine Arts Center has been part of my life. It’s my favorite building in town—filled with a special energy, a true heartbeat.”

— Dale Ferbrache, lifelong FAC supporter

For Dale, childhood visits to the FAC with his grandmother sparked a love of the arts that has lasted a lifetime. Your gift helps today’s young people begin their own journey discovering creativity, confidence, and community through the arts.

Thanks in part to support from last year’s Colorado Gives Day, the FAC provided:

  • 12 student matinees – Hundreds of kids experienced live theatre, many for the first time.
  • 959 students on school tours – Connecting classroom learning with art, history, and culture.
  • 339 summer campers – Finding confidence, creativity, and new friends on stage.

Every one of these moments plants the seeds of a lifelong love of the arts. Give today to keep these experiences thriving for generations to come.

Giving Activity

Mission

We celebrate and challenge our understanding of place, uplift artists from the past, present, and future, and amplify art’s capacity to shape our work and inspire new possibilities.

Background Statement

We believe in...

Engagement — increases visibility, access, and understanding and empowers communities to have input over decisions that affect their lives and their community.

Making — a process that generates ideas and brings them into being.

Cultural Stewardship — employs practices that take responsibility for preserving the value of cultural works, objects and experiences.

History

The Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center at Colorado College grew out of and expanded on the mission of the esteemed Broadmoor Art Academy, established in 1919, to become one of the only multi-discipline arts institutions in the nation. Today the FAC remains an amazing rarity—a museum, theatre, and art school—essentially an entire arts district, under one roof. The FAC is a pillar in the cultural community of the Rocky Mountain West providing innovative, educational, and multi-disciplinary arts experiences designed to elevate the individual spirit and inspire community vitality.

Museum

The 132,286 square-foot facility hosts numerous exhibitions each year, many featuring works from the FAC’s significant permanent collection, bringing a wide variety of art experiences to Colorado Springs.

Theatre

The award-winning and critically acclaimed Fine Arts Center Theatre Company produces an annual season of musicals, comedies, and dramas and has gained a reputation for high-quality productions and Colorado premieres of new American work.

Art School

Bemis School of Art offers art classes for the Colorado Springs community for all ages, artistic interests, and skill levels. Experienced artists and art instructors, large studios, and limited class size create a motivational and supportive environment to explore and develop your creative talents.
