Food Bank for Larimer County

100% complete

$0 Goal

With the rising costs of living, including childcare and medical expenses,
individuals and families are facing difficult times and are having to make
even more difficult decisions.
Decisions like, should they use the rest of their money to buy food? Or pay for their prescriptions?

At Food Bank for Larimer County, we look to reduce that stress
by supplying members of our community with the food and essentials
they need at no cost.
94% of donated resources go directly to our hunger-relief programs!

Mary

"It's either do you fill up your car or do you eat?...
Being a senior citizen, we live on social security, so we don't have that extra money."

Robert & Bonnie

"They really care about their community, and they really do make a difference...
I'm super grateful. As a disabled vet, I don't have a huge amount of income and this makes my quality of life vastly larger."

Matthew

"I don't know what I would do without the help I'm getting from the Food Bank...
I'm so grateful and appreciative."

Mission

To provide food to all in need through community partnerships and hunger relief programs.

Background Statement

In 1984, under the leadership of VISTA volunteer, Sandy Bowden, the Food Bank for Larimer County opened its doors on East Oak Street.

During the first month of operation, Sandy and her volunteers were proud to provide 3,800 pounds of food to individuals and families in need. In those days, food came primarily from rotating food drives between different houses of worship. In the first 12 months, the Food Bank distributed 56,836 pounds of food.

We’ve grown a lot since those early days of operation.

There have been so many innovations, adaptions, and expansions—bettering our ability to help those who are food insecure. We couldn’t have come so far without the work and dedication of the volunteers and staff before us. We're now distributing enough food for more than 10,000 meals and serving over 50,000 individuals in Larimer County.
