Please help us fulfill our mission of rescuing, training, educating, rehabilitating and placing equine. Our much needed equine rescue and rehabilitation facility, is run by 100% volunteers.
"We couldn't do all of this without the help of our youth and adult volunteers and the support from you." says Page Van Meter, lead volunteer of Far View Horse Rescue.
Far View Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation (FVHRR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing shelter, care, rehabilitation, and adoption services for abused, neglected, abandoned and unwanted horses. FVHRR is committed to reducing the number of unwanted horses through equine education and opportunities of involvement.
We became a 501(c)(3) non-profit in 2010. It has taken years of building fences, preparing pastures and horse enclosures, building shelters, putting in electricity and water, and continues to take long hours of maintenance, building and improving our facilities. We came together as volunteers tired of witnessing horse related neglect and abuse cases, and realized the need to change the situation.
In September of 2010, we had our first official meeting at which time we drafted the By-Laws. During that month we started providing homes for rescued horses, mules, ponies and burros.
Our facilities continue to grow and improve every day. To date we have seven pastures and nine pens with shelters and runs for our equine. Starting with a property fence line, we now also have an outdoor and indoor arena, equine resource library, a picnic area, camping area and care taker's cabin. Our eighty acre Rescue located at 187 Wooly Worm Lane, in Fairplay, Colorado, welcomes our volunteers.
Since 2010, Far View Horse Rescue board members and volunteers comprise a very needed and important part of the community by providing resources through intervention, education, and outreach. We continue to provide educational training opportunities for the community to work with our rescued horses and are proud to be volunteer run. Our Rescue is a sanctuary where life's true priorities are clear. It's about creating a strong community through commitment, communication and confidence.
