You can help SIS bring much needed Senior Housing to Summit County for the first time!

Our mission is to facilitate the development of housing and care communities for assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing.  We also plan to provide services allowing seniors and adults with disabilities to safely age in place in Summit County.

The latest opportunity for land to build was within the planned Lake Hill Workforce Housing Development on Dillon Dam Road. However current economic conditions affecting the building of additional workforce housing and our county’s budget concerns have stalled this project.

Fortunately the results of the Market Demand Study and Architectural Illustrative Concepts studies have given us a clear vision of what a Senior Community could look like on a minimum of 2 acres of land!

A Market Study performed in 2024 estimates market demand for Assisted Living, Memory Care, Skilled Nursing, and Short-term Rehab in our market area.  This study identified demand for 100 beds, clearly demonstrating both the demand and ability of our community to pay for services.  And the Architectural concept plan illustrates a vertical a small neighborhood senior housing mountain community.

Mission

To facilitate the development of housing and care communities for assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing. We would like to also provide services allowing seniors and adults with disabilities to safely age in place in Summit County.

Background Statement

Our President, Andy Searls, has been advocating for Senior Housing in Summit County for over 20 years. A devoted team of professionals have joined the effort either as board members or committee members. In 2018 Staying in Summit (SIS) was established as a 501(c)3 non-for-profit organization.

Various land opportunities in Summit County dedicated to Senior Housing have been pursued through the years, but until now SIS has not been able to get a commitment for land.

A Needs Assessment study in 2021 led to commitment by Summit County government in September 2023 to the include Senior Housing in the Lake Hill Workforce Housing Development. And now SIS is pursuing other land options within Summit County.

Your support is an integral requirement to make senior housing a reality in Summit County.
