Explorers Early Childhood Education, Inc. is a non-profit early learning program founded by two of Durango’s most experienced and beloved teachers, Stacy Zimmerman Ferrell and Katy Howell. Established in 2024, Explorers currently serves 12 preschoolers in a warm, home-based setting and is dedicated to providing high-quality, hands-on, and community-centered early childhood education for families of all income levels. Now, Explorers is Expanding! We will grow our capacity from 12 to 56 students per day, offering care from six weeks to six years all while continuing to foster creativity, curiosity, critical thinking, and a deep connection to the community and natural world.
For this Colorado Gives Day, Explorers is focusing our fundraising efforts on purchasing vibrant, engaging playground equipment for our new site. Outdoor environments are essential to children’s learning, exploration, and joy, and our goal is to build safe, inspiring playgrounds that support our students growth. Every dollar donated will go directly toward funding the new playgrounds, helping us bring these spaces to life for our students and community. Catch our vision for the beautiful playground equipment we are looking at bringing into our new school environment below in the Media Gallery.
