EDGE Gallery

A nonprofit organization

EDGE is one of the oldest co-ops in the Denver area. Founded by Ken Peterson, EDGE became an artist run co-op in 1990. EDGE was located in the Navajo Street Art District for many years, but in 2016, rising costs caused EDGE to look for a new home. Several stops along the way guided EDGE to the 40West Art Hub in Lakewood in 2022.

EDGE continues to be an important part of the local contemporary art scene by supporting those working at the margins of material, content and technology. EDGE membership has sponsored not only regular exhibitions but also other creative events such as poetry readings, musical and dance performances.

Mission

EDGE Gallery is contemporary, non-profit, co-op art gallery dedicated to artists outside the domain of commercial art venues. Because we are not dependent on sales for our survival, we have the freedom to pursue more experimental modes of expression. Our primary objectives are to celebrate individuality and uniqueness, to encourage our shared vision, and to maintain our intensity and integrity in addressing the often contradictory messages occurring in contemporary art.

Background Statement

EDGE seeks to continue promoting our mission and expand our current outreach programs including our annual juried show, our open MoPrint/MOP shows and annual community show. Our goal is to continue to push boundaries in contemporary art and to share this with the community.
