Eco-Cycle’s mission is to innovate, implement, and advocate for local and global Zero Waste solutions to foster a more sustainable, equitable, and climate-resilient future. We work with every sector of a community to implement recycling, composting and waste reduction programs, help schools reduce waste by up to 67%, pilot carbon farming techniques on agricultural and urban lands, and work on local ordinances and statewide policies to reduce waste and pollution while promoting a more resilient environment and economy.
See our Program Section (Under "ORGANIZATION DATA", below) to see how YOUR GIFT will help advance Zero Waste policies, programs, and services across Colorado:
Statewide legislation - Community Zero Waste Campaigns - Compost and Carbon Farming - Zero Waste Schools - the CHaRM Recycling Center - Zero Waste Services for Businesses - Nation's FIRST EV compost collection truck - New Recycling Solutions for the Retail Industry
“That solemn duty and obligation to save our planet starts here at home, it starts with the work that each and every one of us are doing in our community every day to make recycling and conservation a pillar of life in the United States. And there is no organization, I believe, in our country that is doing a better job of that than Eco-Cycle.”
Joe Neguse, US Congressman
"Our local communities have benefitted from a lot of firsts from Eco-Cycle over the past 45 years . . . it’s only fitting that Eco-Cycle would bring us yet another first. This time, aligning the climate solutions of Zero Waste and Zero Emissions."
Aaron Brockett, Mayor of Boulder
"Lafayette was attempting to be the first contracted, pay-as-you-throw, curbside collection of trash and recycling community in Colorado. The City turned to Eco-Cycle to develop a grass roots campaign to energize our community to support and embrace this new and innovative program. Without their assistance and guidance thru their social based mission, we would have not succeeded."
Christine Berg, former mayor of Lafayette, CO
Eco-Cycle is one of the oldest and largest non-profit recyclers and Zero Waste organizations in the U.S. We innovate, implement, and advocate for local, national, and global Zero Waste solutions to foster a more sustainable, equitable, and climate-resilient future.
Eco-Cycle was founded in 1976 by local activists who were concerned with the amount of resources needlessly going to waste in landfills. They launched Eco-Cycle to create an opportunity for residents to preserve resources, making Boulder one of the first 20 communities in the nation to implement curbside recycling.
Today, Eco-Cycle partners with Colorado communities, businesses, schools, and decision makers across the state to reduce waste and make recycling and composting accessible and affordable for all Coloradans.
